Organization of the school
The organization of the Southwest School
of Bible Studies is very simple. It is to be classified as a part
of the overall work of the Southwest church of Christ located
at 8900 Manchaca Road, Austin, Texas, the same as the Sunday morning
Bible classes, the Wednesday evening Bible classes, The Bible
correspondence course program, the benevolent program and other
works of the local church. The Southwest Eldership provides the
Scriptural oversight for all phases of the local work including
the Southwest School of Bible Studies. The Eldership appoints
the Director of the school, who serves under the their immediate
oversight, and it is his work to carry out the educational organization
and the daily administrative affairs of the school. The Elders
and the Director work together closely for the common purpose
of training men to faithfully preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
THE SOUTHWEST ELDERSHIP
THE ELDERS OF THE SOUTHWEST CONGREGATION
serve as overseers of a very active congregation. Indeed, the
Southwest church is fortunate to have Elders of high caliber.
They are men of personal integrity and unimpeachable character.
These men are active in the work of the church, having been proved
for their great task. They are men of faith and conviction, which
is demonstrated in various ways. They are deeply concerned about
the needs and problems that face the brotherhood today.
Southwest members demonstrate a like faith and conviction as
do the Elders. This is demonstrated by the ways which members
respond to meet the challenges that are presented to this congregation.
When it was proposed in 1977 that this church become the supporter
and conductor of the Southwest School
of Bible Studies, the membership, under a solid leadership,
did not hesitate to take on the added expense and responsibility
of this task. The Southwest Elders are truly dedicated to their
work and you will find them easily accessible.
