Andy Baker is the teacher each year for a special class on singing and song leading. Currently, Andy preaches in Maude, Texas. He is a former public school teacher and a 2006 graduate of Southwest. He is a graduate of Tyler Junior College (Associate of Arts in Music) and Stephen F. Austin State University (B.M. with a Choral Concentration and M.A. in Music Education). Before becoming a full-time minister, Andy worked and performed with the Dallas Symphony as a member of the Dallas Symphony Chorus, he has portrayed numerous operatic roles, and also performed roles in several musicals. Since 2006, Andy has primarily used his musical talent to encourage singing and song leading in the brotherhood. He has conducted many song leading seminars and workshops by request of different congregations. He has written, and continues to write songs for the edification of the church, and he continues instruction at Southwest to help its students develop good habits and practices for song leading. As a preacher, Andy has appeared on various lectureships in Central Texas and has been on several campaigns in Jamaica, Africa, Ukraine, and here in the United States. He is married to the former Kathryn Haschke, and they have two daughters and one son.
